Nokomis is an area just north of Venice. Nokomis extends north from Roberts Bay to South Creek. This named area of Sarasota County has a number of housing options for every taste and budget. Nokomis has an active civic association working hard to 'provide a unified voice to improve the quality of life in the Nokomis area of Sarasota County'. There is a wonderful public beach on the south end of Casey Key with ample parking. Recent road work to Route 41 has made travel easier and has provided better water access to the homes along Shakett Creek, by increasing the clearance by several feet. One of the goals of the Nokomis civic association is to make route 41 have more of a boulevard and less of an interstate.

If you are looking for water access homes you'll find property along Blackburn Bay, Roberts Bay, and Dona Bay. Many of these homes will provide excellent views of the intra-coastal waterways. There are a number of properties that are located on man made canals that will provide quick access to open waters. West of the trail communities in Nokomis include Bayview, Bay Point, Dolphin Shores, The Inlets, Sorrento Shores, and Blackburn Shores

Nokomis has a very fine golf course community in Calusa Lakes. This gated community is well treed with many homes backing up to the golf course. Located right next to Calusa Lakes is the Mission Valley Country Club. Mission Valley estates is a community of homes on estate sized lots most over 1 acre in size. In the same area is the community of Sorrento Woods where you'll find some homes on the water, but this community does have a boat ramp and day dockage.
